I thought the mine smelter was so cool that I brought my old high school friend Nathan and his brother Brandon back there on New Year’s Day. We explored a little more and found some abandoned mines. We didn’t have a flashlight so I cleverly took a flash picture of my hand, resulting in an all-white photo. The white LCD screen on the camera was light enough to allow us to explore each mine, one at a time.
The Smoldts, longtime family friends, were in AZ and so we took them on a hike in the Mazatzals to see an old mine smelter.
After working some unbelievably long hours in September & October in England, I needed a release. Fortunately Jason could join me for a backpacking/hiking trip in Devil’s Chasm in the Sierra Anchas. There are some amazing cliffs and some amazing cliff dwellings. The dwellings are in excellent condition and even have intact metate stones in them.
Angelo, Stewart and I were out for a business trip and due to 9/11 we had to put in some crazy hours. We took a day off from the insanity to go see Fountains Abbey, take a tour of the Black Sheep Brewery, and go out for a night out on the town in York (the old one).
