Some friends and I went to an area near Datil, NM to go climbing over Labor Day weekend. This was by far my favorite place I’ve been climbing yet. All the holds are giant jugs and they tend to be overhang-y. Other than the occasional rain (timeout!), we had perfect weather all weekend. I am definitely coming back here someday.
Laurent, Holden and I, along with other friends, headed to Paradise Forks in northern Arizona to do some serious crack climbing and camp out in the woods for the weekend. This was my first experience with crack climbing and I had a rough go of it. I couldn’t quite master the ability to easily insert and remove my feet from the crack, and I ended up doing a lot of laybacks, which made every climb a lot of work. Not helping was being partnered with Holden, who is a much better climber than me and loves to push hard. Still, we had a great time and I’d like to go back.
The Aspen Fire has made Tucson’s entire horizon appear to be ablaze. This can only be captured with a panorama:
Today I visited the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, a world-class natural zoo of my beloved Sonoran Desert and all of its flora and fauna. I took one of my most artistic pictures by discovering macro mode on my camera.
